(1921 - 1993) Eminent physicist and pioneer of Cybernetics in Italy. He founded the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Naples and the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Salerno. Renowned for 'Caianiello's equations' in neural networks and his work on renormalization in field theory. He founded the International Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies (IIASS) in Vietri sul Mare. His scientific legacy continues to inspire the neural network community.

(1933 - 2009) Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Salerno, where she served as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and directed the INFM unit. She succeeded Caianiello as President of the IIASS (1993-2009). Her research spanned quantum field theory, superconductivity, and neural networks, authoring over 170 papers. Born in Italy, he earned a Laurea Degree (Summa cum laude) from the University of Napoli in 1985. After serving as Lieutenant at the Italian Army Technical School, he worked at Selenia SpA as a Researcher in Radar (1987-1989). He joined the University of Reggio Calabria in 1989, becoming Full Professor in 2001 and Vice-Rector for Internationalisation. Former President of the Italian Society of Neural Networks.

Professor of Electronics at Politecnico di Torino since 1991. Visiting Professor at ICSI, UC Berkeley (1991), Tongji University, Shanghai (2011, 2015). Expert in Artificial Neural Networks and Electronic Sensors, he founded the Neuronica Lab (1990) for neuromorphic research. He has been President of SIREN (2014-2022). Holds 5 international patents and authored 100+ publications.
