Presidents

(1921 - 1993) Eminent physicist and pioneer of Cybernetics in Italy. He founded the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Naples and the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Salerno. Renowned for 'Caianiello's equations' in neural networks and his work on renormalization in field theory. He founded the International Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies (IIASS) in Vietri sul Mare. His scientific legacy continues to inspire the neural network community.

(1933 - 2009) Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Salerno, where she served as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and directed the INFM unit. She succeeded Caianiello as President of the IIASS (1993-2009). Her research spanned quantum field theory, superconductivity, and neural networks, authoring over 170 papers. She played a pivotal role in applying field theory techniques to many-body systems and was a key figure in the Italian scientific community.

Full Professor of Electrotechnics and ICT at Sapienza University of Rome. He served as Director of the DIET Department and as a member of the Superior Council of Communications. A prominent figure in the Italian ICT landscape, he was the Rector's Delegate for relations with enterprises and served on the board of the Ugo Bordoni Foundation. His research interests focus on circuit theory, neural networks, and digital signal processing.

Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Milan (Statale). A senior member of the IEEE, he has served as President of the Italian Society of Neural Networks (SIREN). His research focuses on machine learning, granular computing, and statistical learning theory. He has been a reference point for the neural network community in Italy, organizing numerous scientific events and contributing significantly to the field of computational intelligence.

Born in Italy, he earned a Laurea Degree (Summa cum laude) from the University of Napoli in 1985. After serving as Lieutenant at the Italian Army Technical School, he worked at Selenia SpA as a Researcher in Radar (1987-1989). He joined the University of Reggio Calabria in 1989, becoming Full Professor in 2001 and Vice-Rector for Internationalisation. Former President of the Italian Society of Neural Networks.

Professor of Electronics at Politecnico di Torino since 1991. Visiting Professor at ICSI, UC Berkeley (1991), Tongji University, Shanghai (2011, 2015). Expert in Artificial Neural Networks and Electronic Sensors, he founded the Neuronica Lab (1990) for neuromorphic research. He has been President of SIREN (2014-2022). Holds 5 international patents and authored 100+ publications.

Anna Esposito earned a Laurea Degree (Summa cum laude) from Salerno University and a PhD from Naples 'Federico II'. Full Professor (2020-present) in Cybernetics, AI, and Multimodal Communication at Università della Campania 'L. Vanvitelli'. Head of the Behaving Cognitive Systems Lab. Principal Investigator of multiple EU and Italian projects.
